700 BELT
#1
Anyone wondering about using the 700 belt on a 500cc and up atv. ATV SPORT had an artical about the new 2003 line up and they said that polaris upgraded the belts on all 500,500HO,600 atv's to the 700 spliceless belt. I called polaris and they said that you can use the 700 belt on any model polaris atv and it will not hurt the clutches. November issue of ATV SPORT. The chains, grease zerks(eliminated),brakes, belts and clutch cover drains were upgraded on all new models.

well, for a modded 250 or a mild 400 it might be okay, but a full race mod will munch one pretty quick. Ken and myself will attest to that. Clutch wear with 70-75hp is just going to happen.

Yes i know but i was telling the people that want to use another belt other than stock. Some people were saying the 700 belt would not work and the wear would be more likely so stick with the stocker. This artical prooves them wrong. I use the HPD kevlar belt and have not seen any wear yet and i ride pretty hard. Some people seem to think that if the 700 belt was better, than why dont polaris use them on all the atv's. They think it is good to stick with the stock belt. Upgrading to better, stronger, parts is never a bad idea or companies wouldnt make them. This has not been a question in this forum, but it has been discussed many times on the ATV CONNECTION sight. I think people here have much more knowledge about Polaris and aftermarket parts then on that other sight.
