Sportsman 400 or 500?

RVer,
I would say to go with the 500 just because you get so much more with it (engine, EBS, etc.)...plus at your weight you want to grow into something and the 500 will be the bomb...... ride on !!!!!

You may as well buy the TrailBoss then the 400. The 500 is a much more powerful machine and if you get a chance to ride the 700 you'll likely wonder why you considered the 500....
If your new to riding you may think the 400 is enough for you. I would venture to guess it isn't for a man your size. You will likely be uncomfortable with your decision to purchase the lessor machine before you get 100 miles on it. - Unless you plan on a Barbie handle bar basket and a rack mounted pin wheel....lol - just kidding...

My 425 pulls my 235 puonds up hills and anywhere I want to go.And It will run right up with the bigger quads.Plus my old 400 2 stroke runs with and around the bigger ones.So what I am saying is bigger is not always better.Personally if I was in the market for a new quad I would look around for a dealer with a left over 400 Explorer.

My 650 pulls me up hills to.. In fact, I have to HANG ON! and dang near hoold the wheels down!! Yes its fun, Yes its comfortable, Yes its fast..
Get a sport, its so much fun....
I had the 500 Polaris and was WAY disapointed in power and speed. Don't go cheap and get the 400. Get the biggest unit you can afford..

If you want EBS in a stock non-EBS Polaris then do the following: On your secondary clutch have the stock spring placed in a 1 to 1 postion. This takes about 20 minutes to complete this task, the people at Heelclicker told me about this and it works very well. I personnal do not like the aggressive EBS on a 500HO but this set up on my Xplorer 400 is not as aggressive. When you let off the throttle the front does not nose dive like on the 500HO's that i have riden. It comes on easyfor the first 30~40 sec. and then you feel the EBS. At www.Heelclicker.com they have pic's to show you how to do this.
