Check this one out.http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stor...out/page1.html I have the follow up too. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stor...art2page3.html. This man tom keefe works for chevy to promote the duramax. And in his tests it loses to the ford. "Dedicated to Duramax Diesel Power and answering your questions" to quote mister keefe. http://www.tomkeefe.com/. By the way they are not being entirely truthful on their claim that the cummins is the high output. Run it through the number cruncher and it is making the normal output horsepower ratings. Using the 1/4 mi times. regardless the ford 6.0 stomped both. If they get the injectors figured out I think they will have a great motor. By the way I own a cummins. Which is the only medium duty engine in the light truck market. In other words it will almost always last longer. As long as we can keep the egr off em.

WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG????????????
good article! thanks.
i think the Duramax (allison Auto) kicked *** pulling the trailer in the 1/4 mile though...........the massive torque never let up! beat the Ford by almost 2 seconds PULLING 12,000 Pounds! and that is where the men are separate from the boys........pulling BIG weight!
now relax!
i'm just having some friendly fun here! LOL
actually. i'm between trucks right now. i can't decide between the new-quiet Cummings, another Duramax, or try the massive power of a Ford. it's a real toss-up so far!
have a good one,

WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG????????????
They are all upgradable now. Any one will work for me. I personally say the men are seperated from the boys in the mountains but I live in a state that has mountains like colorado. Not too many passing lanes either. I have a 98.5 24v pushing about 520 flywheel hp. The damn slushbox throughs fits when I try to get it to the ground. I need an upgraded tranny but funds do not permit. This one has outlived its forecasted life. Im suprised it made it this far (170k). They are 150k average trannies. And im way uprated.
I have pretty much owned inline 6s and am hooked. In my life of owning several dozen vehicles ive only owned one v8. I like the longevity of the 6s. I presently own 4 I6s. Im not brand loyal. Owned just about all of em once. When ford discontinued the I6 300 they lost a costumer. Jeep still has the 4.0 but I dont like the quality of their grand wagoneer.
Chevy would have gotten my dollar had they used a little less aluminum on the diesel. But I believe they have proved it could make it through its teething phase. Now lets see what kind of mileage they can sustain.
P.S. Oh by the way. One of the new common rail injection(thats the quiet one) 5.9 cummins is in the fastest pickup in the world. They hit 220 with it. They would have gotten a better time but the rear pinion exploded from 1400 ft lbs of torque. This is a cummins pushin 700 flywheel hp. Banks built it. I think they will have details on their site. I believe the old record was 159 mph for a diesel pickup. Shucks with a gear splitter I think I could go that fast. Ive had it around 130 but I run out of gears.

By the way mtpockets. You read the graphs wrong. The automatic chevy lost to the ford unloaded in the 1/4 mi. The 6 speed chevy lost to the ford and the dodge with the 12000 pound load. The automatic chevy with the 12000 pound load lost to the ford also but it was only 1.3 seconds behind in the 1/4 mi. And loaded the chevy was over 4 seconds behind the ford in the 0-60. Dodge isnt releasing their automatic until january. Look at the summary not the graphs. The graphs are tricky. One side is in seconds where lower is better and the other is in mph where higher is better. I was suprised that the dodge outpulled the duramax on flat land because their ratings are very close and the dodge weighs 1000lbs more. The chevy didnt fair so well in the hillclimb. The dodge held its own in the 7% hillclimb. And I was suprised that the dodge fell on its face in the 15% because of the massive torque that it develops it should have done better than the other two in my opinion.
