Default Sorry to have to ask again...

I know this subject has been pretty well covered in past threads, but I still need a little bit more info. I just bought a 2002 SP 700 and it has the leaking water pump and the original cover. Can someone tell me what the fix entails? I hear they give you a new gasket and a metal bracket or housing that bolts (or reinforces) over the existing plastic housing - is that correct? Even though this machine is not under warranty, will Polaris cover parts and labor? Also, there is a little bit of oil in this same area, could the water pump issue have anything to do with this?

You pretty much answered your own questions except for the oil. There is an oil seal behind the water pump seal that could leak. This leak is probably not related to waterpump unless the shaft got bent from someone trying to remove the seal without taking off the stator plate like the service manual states. As for the waterpump kit, a new bracket, cover and gasket are included in the kit. Have your Polaris dealer call in on your behalf to ask for some relief. I think you'll get some help.
