Online Insurance companies charge you to protect themselves. READ THE FINE PRINT.... Friend insured his ATV and it was stolen and the company he was insured with provided::: replacement cost less depreciation
less a deductable.... He ended up with a pay off that was only 60 percent of the real value. Add -ons need to be listed ( big foot tire set, racks, winches, etc... ) or they will not cover....

HomeOwners vs. seperate policy. My agent told me that if the quad is used only on property covered by my HomeOwners then it is covered with same limits as my home and same liability limits as my self thru HomeOwners. If it is stolen from my property, property damage etc. If used off my private property, they will add it to my home & auto policies as a rider. Total cost for all three bikes was about $125.00 per year with Shelter. That includes the bikes anywhere used in my 1,000,000 liability umbrella, Comp and Coll ded are at ACV less $250.00. This is Shelter of Missouri in the state of Missouri.
If you do not have homeowners and auto with Shelter, they say it is still only around $100.00 or so a year with ProgressiveDirect.com.
Hope this helps!

I got a quote from Markel(atvline.com) for $125/yr with a $500 deductible for my 03 Sportsman 600. To me it makes sense that they wouldn't cover the depreciated amount. It's just like if you totalled a used car. An insurance company wouldn't give you the amount to buy a new one. I guess the issue would be how they determine what the value is.

For everyone who thinks their Insurance on their home covers the Quad...Check again in most states if it is not a Farm Tax Exempt they WILL NOT COVER many say they will but you better have it in writing. It will cost extra in most cases when I had it lost or stolen it ran about $125 a year I suggest if you have one that is being paid for threw a bank get insured if it's over 3K as well it would be worth it. I had one stolen in 1988 insured and they run you threw the ringer the police and insurance! Be careful! Check with your insurance agent and get it in writing...
