Default Rear wheel side CV boot

I am trying to replace the rear wheel side CV boot on my Sportsman 500.Most of the posts i have read talk about a spring clip that must be removed in order to free the shaft from the transmission side, But i am trying to remove the shaft from the wheel side CV Joint. There is some play on the shaft but it will not come off.
Can any one help?

There is a snap ring holding that joint on. It is hard to see, you really have to clean the grease out to see it, especially if you don't know exactly what you are looking for. It's on the joint end where the larger end of the boot would be. If you clean the grease off the spline right there, you should be able to see. Hope this helps. It's easier to do than explain.
