Hi, I have recently received an old sundiro sunday quadbike. It takes absolutely ages to kickstart but eventually it does start, initially when it starts it lacks power and i usually have to sit and rev it for a while before it will actually move anywhere. It lacks power up hills but is generally okay on the flat, however sometimes it stops and starts accelerating when moving fast. The electric starter does work when i charge the battery but it doesn’t actually ever start the quadbike itself from cold. I have purchased a new spark plug and am going to fit that soon, i’m struggling to find parts for it anywhere so if anyone could help me with anything it would be much appreciated.
Check compression, it could be down due to worn rings and/or bore. Fairly sure it is a two stroke? However if it is a four stroke, check valve clearances if compression is down, before going for a rebuild. If compression is OK, check and clean out carb and, if it is a two stroke, check exhaust isn't partly blocked by carbon.
