check out www.gtthunder.com they have a dyno graph of a gas gas says 42.7 hp stock and just under 30 torque sounds pretty good to me.

Yep,
That's my quad and it was and still is pretty much a stock machine. Most mods have been to the suspension. The power is unbelievably (sp) smooth for a 2-stroke.

How does the power compare to your LT250r. My LT has really smooth power as well due to the power valve. Does the Gas Gas Have a big top end hit or is the power smooth throughout the band coming on evenly as the rpm's rise? My LT seems to have no top end hit and progresses smoothly through the band with power and torque everywhere.

I've had a couple 85 lt250r's and a 91 quadracer. Compared to the GasGas there is no contest.
The GasGas is smoother from idle all the way to top speed. This quad has very little 'hit' to it. The power just keeps coming on it. One Gncc pro rider rode his buddies GG300 and told him he'd take his Honda 250r any day over the GG because the power was deceiving. He knew it had more power than the R, but couldn't feel it because of the lack of hit it had. This worried him that he would over ride the quad and crash harder and more often than he already does.

My take on the GasGas is it is a 2-stroke high preformance quad that wants to be a 4-stroke. This thing is as smooth or smoother than most 4-strokes on the market. Take a smooth engine that you can ride all day long without wearing yourself out and put it in a update 250r chasis and you get what GasGas has done. The problem with the quad in stock form is front suspension and a-arms. The caster setting is off badly causing the steering to be stiff and the shocks are valved to stiff. Once modify the upper a arms or replace them and have the shocks revalved this is by far the best overall preforming race atv on the market.

As you can see though mine is up forsale since I have switched to the new Honda because of sponsoring reason.

Hope this has helped.

Those are indeed some very good numbers out of the gas gas. What I find somewhat funny is that the gas gas has more peak torque than the stock yfz on their website. It is quite pitiful that the yfz puts out 26 ft. lbs. or torque stock. Hell, stock banshee's put down more than 26 ft. lbs. I guess the torque starts to diminish when you start making four strokes rev like two strokes.

Thanks for your help LT250r91. I figured that the Stock wild 300 would have way more hp and torque than even a worked late model LT but taking into consideration the power diff. did your LT lack a big top end hit like the Gas Gas does (I know the gas gas has more power in every part of the band) or was it more like your friends 250r with the big hit. I just want to make sure my LT is up to potential considering all the mods I have. My LT's power sounds just like your gas gas only milder of course cause its not as fast or big of a motor.
I appreciate your help and opinion

After looking at the mods you have listed on your 92 quadracer. It looks like the only thing your missing is some suspension work. I think with aftermarket shocks, a-arms and swingarm you'd notice a huge difference in the machine. You may not have the motor the GG has about the suspension would allow you to ride alot faster than the shock allows you. I personally don't like the factory swingarm. Pending on the type of riding you do.

Trail riding = works front shocks and revalve the rear shock shock
Woods racing = Works dual or triple fronts with rezzies or elka, ohlins for the front and new swingarm with matching rear shock
MX racing = +3 a arms w/ Elka or Ohlins fronts and rear shock and swing arm.

The LT is still an awesome quad and can made to be extremely competitive with any new machine. Money is the made driving factor.

My 91 had the following mods
Works front dual rated with rezzies
revalved factory shock
Leager swingarm
PWK39 carb
KN air filter
Paul Turner mid range pipe with turn down silencer
Paul Turner Pryimid (sp) Rad valve cage
BAD custom 2 tone seat cover
Light Blue maier plastic
Douglas .190 rims
xct holeshot
gusseted frame
stainless steel brake lines
Tag T2 bars
ralley handguards
and some others that I'm sure I'm forgetting. It's been about 2 years since I had the quad. It was super fast and smooth in the woods just wanted something new and got tired of fixing things on it.

I had a 91 LT250R as well, and everthing lt250r91 said above i can confirm... the gasgas 300 is ultra smooth & deceptively fast.
