Which snowmobile brand?

A 440 today has 20hp more than it did 20 years ago. They were 100lbs lighter, so they were still fast. But they had no suspension and were half the size (not very comfortable). I ride a turbo REV 800, but I will be the first to tell you it is not the motor that Polaris or AC is making. It could have been, but it is too narrow so you can't open the case enought to get a really high hp big bore on it. Stock it is a great motor, you just can't get as much out of it with mods. Doo is coming out with a 1000 twin this year so we will se how much they changed it.

hey all......not much of a snowmobiler, but i got a snowmobile engine on my odyssey. the engine is off a 71 olimpique ski doo 399. that engine takes more abuse than almost any engine ive seen. ive had that thing full tilt wide open for an hour or more in 90+ degree weather.....it has yet to let me down. it runs fine in rain, freezing cold, and after sitting outside for over a month. ive been told that a fan cooled motor will not last in warm temps.....but they were all wrong. i also enjoy the simplicity of the motor....cant argue with that...it may not have the most power...but power wont get you anywhere when your stuck with a 500lb machine on top of a mountain. if the new ski doo rotax motors are anything like the old ones as far as reliability.....then i guess im a ski doo man...

My dad has a 72 Olimpique 399. That thing is the most reliable sled I have ever seen.
And, with the bogey wheel suspension, you can go anywhere with it.
For breaking a trail in really deep snow, you cant hardly beat it.

stick with ski-doo , they are te best out there in my books, even in racing ski-doo is always comong out on top, and here in canada the F7 cant even touch the rev models.. i have a 04 MXZ800 H.O rev x-editon blair morgan replica (bahamut_120@hotmail.com - msn or bahamut12o - aim, if you want pictures) it is by far the most amazing thing i have ever drivin, i have many riding budies in the sled devision and the ones that have tried it out have said it is the fastest thing they have ever drivin' and they got a wide vareity of sleds, fromthe F7 to the phaser lol, ( i think phasers are ugly ahaha, but i grant them that they are good in deep snow) pretty much every brand out there has there ups and downs, but here in canada ski-doo has comeo out oon top in every area
