Default What's your engine oil????

Choosing an engine oil is like choosing a quad and once someone has found the one they like they rarely vary. I am wanting to know what brand and type people are using and what are your comments either good or bad about what you are using now and brands you have tried in the past.

I currently use Yamalube 20W50 in both my Raptor 660 and my Wolverine 350 because I live is east Texas and the norm temp is appx 95, but this oil seems to wear out quick. I was looking at Bel Ray Thumper oil to try next.

Castrol 20 / 50 in mine......I've heard that you never want to use an HD (heavy duty???). If it says something like 20 / 50 HD then it can harm your engine. I'm not sure if thats correct or not but thats what I've heard.

Ive been using silkolene 10w40 in my raptor and have always used amsoil 10w40 in my warriors. and i have had problems with the silkolene blowin out gaskets and leakin around washers. Its just too thin or somethin. so i thinkin i goin to amsoil in the raptor. I broke my warrior in after boring to 86mm with amsoil in it yeah yeah. no no break in on syntetic. Whatever I burn no oil have good compression and for a warrior it rips.

I have spent a lot of time researching the chemistry of oils! The only advantage a petroleum oil has over a synthetic is price, and price shouldn't be ones criteria when you are protecting your precious machine. I prefer the synthetics! The PAO synthetics (Mobil 1 and Amxoil) have many advantages over petroleum, and the ESTER SYNTHETICS have many advantages over the PAO's. http://www.maximausa.com/technical/l...beNews2002.pdf

My choice is Maxima Extra in my autoclutch bikes, and Maxima Ultra in my 400's and 450R. 40 weight in winter (winters here are mild) and 50 weight in summer (summer heat is bruital).
