Positive. This is his very first quad. He is not very experienced. However, we took that into account, that's why we switched quads.
2 things I checked on:
1. We used a GPS and realized that the "race spot is only 1003 feet long, or just short of a quarter mile and......
I beat him by approx. 5 quad lengths. I was incorrect in my first estimation.

 

maybe a previous owner put a high compression piston in there. Also, things like head work, hot cam, even some cdi boxes can be overlooked unless you know its there.
