Whats the best ration to run using premium fuel. The only engine mods are a ct racing pipe and a k&n filter. The manual says to mix at 20:1 but that seems pretty high to me, I've heard of lots of 2-srtokes being run at 50: 1 but not 20:1. On that note what a really good oil to run. Thanks

 

I've run 40 to 50 to one on every two stroke I have ever owned in my life. And I have owned lots of them. Never stuck a piston and only rebuilt one of them.
I have never got fancy with the oil. Just picked up any old two stroke oil, mixed it 40 or 50 to 1 and had at it. My plugs look almost like a 4 stroke plug when they come out. I don't ever remember fouling a plug? Might have, but it was years ago if I did.
Not telling you what to do. Just telling you what I do.

 

I always used to mix mine at 32 to 1, 4 ounces to a gallon. An I agree with Doc on the oil. I always just used Quicksilver outboard oil. I figured if it was good enough for $10k+ boat motor it was good enough for the old R.

 

so anywhere from 40 to 50 to one is fin then right. I heard yamalube is pretty good stuff for any 2-stroke, what do you guys think.

 

my friend runs both his banshee's at 20:1 and they run mint. I knew a guy that had a trx250r and he ran 20:1 also.

 

32 to 40 run good oil because that engine runs at a higher rpm than the average boat motor ( about 6000rpm more) remember that this oil is also lubricating the crank. maxima and H1R get my vote.

 

40:1 for me with amsoil interceptor, thats with the shee though (should be fine in the 250r). Some guys run 80:1 with the more expensive stuff called dominator.

If you ask me anything richer than 32:1 is just a waste of oil.

I've always run 32:1 with no problems,I run 110 Citgo and Klotz Benol.I think you could go 40:1 no problems,I wouldn't go any more than that.JMHO

 

I think i'd run 40 or 50 : 1. i know in the old trx250 manuel it said to run 20:1, but oil wasnt as good back then as it is today, so you dont have to run as rich of mixture.


on my 1974 sled it says mix 20:1 also, I always mix 50:1 with this cheap BRP oil and she runs like a champ....never fouled a plug
