I went through the "dry spell" so I think we have a lot to be thankful for in the sport market today.
So I'll have to think about it a bit before giving my own answer.
But yes, a true sport 4x4 would be cool.
That video of the KFX700 with added 4x4 is cool too.
But to be honest, I was never real thrilled with the Praire.
They sure looked better years ago, but I thought it was tippy feeling, in need of engine breaking and a lot tighter turning radius.
But let's be straight up here... what could the 4x4 parts possibly weigh???
35 or 40 pounds?.... 50 pounds?
They could make a reliable 4x4 sport quad weigh in at around 400-425 pounds... if the WANTED TO... I feel sure.

I'd really just like all the new technology on one quad....
I want a $5000 EFI sport machine, with 50 HP and Elka quality supension, a dial tunable electronics system, reverse, stock nerf-bars and real underbelly protection. And I also want a 350-375 pound dry weight... and solid rear axle. I want a chain that never needs adjusting or replacing, and an engine that needs nothing.....ever......
Oh yea.... I also want it to be dirt and mud resistant, so it looks new forever. And I'd like a anti gravitational propulsion system to lift myself over and out of anything that might get my non- 4x4, SRA quad stuck ....
Of course if I can't have that I'll just keep my 400 for a while.....

I haven't owned a Blaster in 10 years or so. I jumped on my buddies kids the other day, and it all came back to me...these little things are just pure fun......
Sooooooo, how about a new generation of small to medium size ultralight 250 class machines, based on the new generation of 250cc 4-stroke dirt bike engines? Yamaha absolutely has to do this, because they have now lost the Blaster and they have no market share whatsoever in the medium displacement class....you wait and see! I hope Honda doesn't rest on its laurels, just because they have the very popular 250EX and ageing 300EX....because the new machine won't even be in the same class....
Ever wonder why mini dirt bikes are all the rage??? Ever wondered why there isn't a mini quad rage...because we don't have any machines that fit the bill. There is a huge untapped market niche here, for any company that has the guts to step out and make the first move!

For those of us not lucky enough to live within day trip distance of the desert, how about designing sport fenders to allow for optional OEM mud flaps. I get absolutely coated with mud some days, and you know, I just don't like it as much as I did when I was 17.

The Blaster weighs 330 pounds, so I'm imagining something that comes in around that weight.
I posted this idea once before, and one responder said that nobody would spend the amount of money required. His logic was that a 250 engine is just as complex and expensive to build as a 450, and the 450 has more power, so who wouldn't just get a 450 instead???
I don't know where he lives or what the economy is like there, but I know a dozen guys who have spent $10,000+ on their mini dirt bikes, with no end in sight. The market is out there...for sure!
