Default help buying new vs used raptor...

as you know im a ProspectiveBuyer and i'd like to ask you guys some more questions.

i looked in the buying section and i didnt find anything that helps.

how much should i pay OTD for a Raptor? i figure 6500? does that sound reasonable?

also, my friend say that the best buying time for a quad is in about 2 mos(in az). is that true, since it gonna get hot as hell and people wont wanna ride as much?

what should i look for in a used bike? would it be wise to buy an 01 that had the tranny issues fixed?

thanks for your help guys.

ProspectiveBuyer ,

DS:
what are you talking about? more people raved about the raptor. besides i like the feel of the raptor, i like sitting tall and it will be one helluva a bike at the dunes. i have a feeling the 400 will run out of steam up any hill at the dunes.
besides, ive wanted a raptor for the longest time, i just wanted to know for sure i dont want a 400.

with that said, do you have any advice for buying a new vs used raptor(hint: see topic title)?

thanks

hey if u knew anything TALL (tippy) isnt really a good thing for handling. u want a big 650 for the dunes get a ds. they are tall and wide, not tall and narrow like the raptor. dont even think about a 2001 if u want tranny problems and crappy gearing on top of the starter problems

That's really sad how you said that!!!!!!

Anyways the prime time to buy or not to buy depends on your area of the
country. Here in the Midwest you want to purchase on the worst weather
day possible when there is no one else in the showroom and the salesman
might need to meet his sales figures for the month. In our area in about 4 to 6 weeks
you will have to beat people with a stick to get to a salesman. The quads will be selling
themselfs

If you can find an 01 that has proof that the transmission has been
fixed it might be OK. If you have any time under your belt at all the 01
ratio's are fine and here on the forums in other areas it has been shown
the 01 gears are better for the torque curve of the stock motor. The
02's and up have lower ratio's in the bottom gears to improve slow speed
riding.

DS:
seems like you are pretty partial to DS's which is why you hate the competition. i bet you have had your *** handed to you by a few raptors. thats why you are defending yourself so much. you should watch the way you talk to people, its not good for your health. its ppl like you that keep newbs from coming back. and feel free to talk sh*t all you want. im done with this.

thanks for the advice. i have a feeling that sales will pick up around here too. which would give me more reason to buy a used 02 for cheaper.
