Should I get a trx250x

hey
my friend bought one and he has had alot of things done to it. i cant name them all but he has put in alot of money in it. he can beat a 300ex in a flat race but he cant beat it around the track. He can catch some pretty good air with it. How much you going to pay for it and does it run good?

Get it!
A 250x can be modded better than a 300ex, or so I hear. They are also cheaper and basically the same thing. If you are plnning to keep it basically stock, you might wanna go ahead and try and fnid a 300 for the convienence of electric start(its a big bonus if ya ask me!!) and a little more power. However, they are the same in a drag race stock vs. stock because the 300 is heavier and that equls out the extra 30 or so cc's. Mods and hop-ups are pretty easy to come by. Although not as popular as the 250r or 400ex for serious mods, there is a fair amount for the 300/250x. Anything is available for a price, if they make something for a quad, someone will make it for the 250x.

Ian,
I just bought a '91 250x and it has had several mods done to it. The only real advantage of buying a 300ex instead is the electric start. I'm really happy with the kick start on mine and once it's been running for a while kicking it over is easy. As far as a bike for you a stock 250x would probably suit you just fine while you get used to riding, but modifications can be made to increase power once you "need" it.
