Default 1986 quadsport nuetral problem

I have a 1986 quadsport that won't go into nuetral, I was wondering if anyone had an answer for me. I'm also looking for a diagram of the engine, if anyone has one of those, thanks.

For the diagram part try Alba-Action at the "Find oem parts fast" in the upper right hand corner. Also is it hard to get it into neutral or it doesn't go into neutral at all?

My 86 Q-sport was always a bit tricky to find neutral. I figured it was the "monkey motion" and just plain old wear & tear on the linkage. It was an '86 model so that was logical to me. Mine seemed to be easier to find N when running and best when cooler. If you have a lot of slop in the linkage I would look there first. Give the old quad a break, after all, it is a "senior citizen" in the sport quad world.
