New RIder Need help on 1987 LT250R
wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm a new quad rider, bought a utility machine, but realized it's no good for the dunes or any fun stuff. I can trade my machine straight up for a 1987 LT250R with a rebuilt 1988 engine. This machine was raced and is supposed to be in good shape. Is this a reliable machine? Any clue what these are selling for, please specify in American or Canadian funds? Thanks for your help!

I would check the LT out. Yeah they are pretty reliable. I have an 86'LT and its NEVER let me down in terms of reliability and I've had it for about 3 years now. My first and only problem so far just happened to me 2 weeks ago (counter-balancer gear key sheared) and it was and easy fix. It has started up on the 2-3 kick everytime since I've had it....... back to your situation, can't go wrong with a rebuilt engine, but check for bearings going out like the axle, swingarm and etc...

Hey guys thanks a lot for your help. The quad was raced but only once this year and engine was built last year. So I think if he raced it the machine has to be running at %100 to compete. I do have a mechanic that used to race sleds and is very familair with 2 stroke machines. Once again thanks, I've only been riding for a month and half and now I think the fun will begin with the LT250R
