4-strokes are far better for wheelies, they have a smoother power band, it does take a good deal of skill to ride wheelies on 2-strokes without eating it a few times.

being able to ride wheelies is one of the true showings that you are in control of your bikes power and now how it runs at all times.

Altho i'm sure some people just have sucky balance. and then some people just don't know how to do wheelies, its certaintly not by popping your clutch!!

I think one of the better characteristics of the LT250R is one that actually makes it harder to carry a wheelie. The axle is farther back from center of the bike compared to many others, so the balance point is a little more awkward. Compare it to most other sport quads especially the 4 strokers by sitting on one and looking where your body is in relation to the axle. I feel real stable on my LT at speed and riding hard, uphill & so forth. My Raptor feels like it wants to go over much easier, feels like the axle is right under me in comparison. But just get the old LT in 3rd piped up over a smooth dune crest and you can carry a long one. LIKE I WILL BE DOING FRIDAY AT ST ANTHONY YEAH BABY!!!!!

I only rode one LT250 and i loved it, never tried to ride wheelies, it wasn't my bike. But it sure has the power to do it.

I felt comfortable on it when i sat down and even more at home when i was riding it. Its a great bike!

I just paid off my z400 after the first payment so now i am going to look for an LT to screw with

Default blaster or lt250

just commenting on the original subject...
i do know what i'm talking about in the following.
the blaster will smoke a z250, and has a way harder hitting powerband on it. and with a rider as light as you, it'll frickin rip.
the z will handle better.
the z will be a little more "tame" than the blaster
the z is probably a better cruising machine, a blaster is sorta ment to rip around in.
the blaster will be a lil more maintenance, but nothing that's not really hard at all. just tightening the chain on rare occasion and air filter. not really much more than a 4 stroke.
the blaster will really toss you around for your weight, it's gonna be kinda rough. I'm 6'1 160lbs and it throws me around pretty good, so you might wanna go for a better handling vehicle.
both quads are great, the blaster is a lil more sporty and faster, the z is really sweet to, just a lil less rapid. if it's your first quad i'd say go for the z, but you're probably going to be wanting to crave for more power later after you get it. the blaster's going to be easier and cheaper to hop up a lil. hope it helps, but don't let anybody decide for you. go sit on both of them and see how you like em'. there's both exceptional quads

He is talking about a LT250 not a LTZ250. The names are close but the quads are very different. A LT250 will flat out smoke a LTZ250 and will walk away nicely from a Blaster. It will handle far better than a Blaster and most likely better than a LTZ250.

I recommended the LT because although he is small, he is big enough that we know he is not a little kid and therefore will grow fast and learn fast. He might be better with the Blaster at the very beginning but if he rides a LT250, he will wish he had got one in the first place so he doesn’t have to wait. That’s of course assuming his parents are not rich and that he cant trade the Blaster at any time he wants. If that’s the case, then yes he should start out on the Blaster. Otherwise, he's better of on the LT250. When he gets bigger and has a few years experience he can then upgrade to a LT500.

I have owned both bikes and they both are great. The blaster has only 12 hp stock . I left it stock for about 3 rides before i HAD to upgrade , i bought a fmf pipe, sil, K&n and reeds . It made a huge improvement, and it was very fun because it was light and nimble through the trails and with your weight it should be ok for a while , however I soon out grew the power and bought a banshee. The banshee was a blast and it almost killed me few times. I now have a 89 lt250r and it is the best out of the three. Buy the bike you plan to keep . I wish I had bought the lt250 first because the amount of money i put into the 3 quads i coulda had one sweet one. Both bikes are simple to work on, are reliable and cost relatively cheap. IF you dont know a whole lot about quads buy the blaster, 13 year old quads need regular maintenence to keep in top shape.
