Default low rpm stutter problem

Hey, I have used your search button aimlessly trying to find a solution to my proble, but have come up with nothing. It just started happening all of a sudden. I was booking it down a railroad bed, splashing through puddles on my 85 suzuki lt 230, and all of a sudden it started sputtering and stalled. I could not get it started, and realised the sparkplug boot had come off. So i replaced it and fired up the quad. The real weird thing is is that i went through another puddle and it stalled again, but the wire was fine. Now, two weeks later, whenever i go to accelerate, it stutters for like 30 seconds and then blasts outta the hole once it hits higher rpm. I dont understaand it, we cut the sparkplug wire an inch up from the boot and re-screwed it on to make sure there was no corrosion, but it still does it and it is getting worse. Tomorrow when i get access to a multimeter i will test the wire, but do you think it is something else? Also, i think the wire and coil are one piece?

Default low rpm stutter problem

I got a 230s too, first i would make sure your plug is good and your air filter. it could be anything from a dirty filter to a faulty ground. i had the same problem and it ended up being a hole in my plug wire, so when it would get wet it would studder. When was the last time you cleaned your Carb?

Default low rpm stutter problem

I replaced the plug, and today when it started stuttering (dont have to go through puddles to make it happen anymore) i shut it off and checked the plug. Now, the centre electrode is a light brown, which is good, but the ground electrode, at the elbow is a greyish white. Would this mean it is burning to hot? The next weird thing is that this plug i just put in yesterday and around the threads (near electrodes) it is soot black. Does that not mean carbon buildup? Could that have anything to do with this? I tested the high tension lead and it is 4200 ohms per foot, which is still good, but would an ohmeter tell if there was a prob with the wire? Thanks for the help.

wut you should do is turn the air mixture screw out 1/2 a turn. this will make it run a bit richer since its running lean right now. this may fix the whole problem and it may not, but its wut i'd try!
