Default 89 Quadracer Rebuild: Beginning Photos and BS

I'm going to try and document my adventure while I rebuild my 89 Quadracer that I bought 3 weeks ago. I wasn't going to post the link until I had some info and photos but I figured what the hell. My goal is to hopefully help somebody out here or there with their rebuild project. I'm waiting on parts now but I should have some more stuff up soon. If anyone has any helpful tips to add please feel free. I'm sure I could use them! This should be fun...and rewarding!

Here's the link: 89 Quadracer Project

Hey nice page you have there 89. I am getting ready to take the old 87 of mine apart again this winter for some updating; suspension, engine, etc. Keep posting your pictures, especially the polished parts--looks nice!

Great job, Looks like we are in the same boat as I am in the process of going throught my 89 Zilla. One thing I found out is to replace ALL disposable bearings, seals, and pretty much anything that is not a "hard" part as you will end up doing it regardless, if you want the job done right. I have spent over $1000 on bearing and seals alone, but it is now as tight as a new quad.Keep us updated.

Looks good Zig. I've got a weekend of bearing installation ahead of me. I'm not certain if I'm going to take it down to the frame yet. I'd like to use it ASAP. The frame really isn't that bad if I clean it up a little. I guess we'll see...

i did all that polishing on the R i had...first couple of rides in new england turned it back to a hase...in my opinion where i lived it wasnt worth all the trouble. seems polishing if only good for the desert.

Funny you say that because I was thinking the same thing. I am considering having the pieces chromed instead. We'll see, depends on the budget...

there is a type of clearcoat you can put on polished items. It will keep them looking like new for a while. Check out this site here---->eastwood Order up their catalog and i do believe they have it in there.
