Default Larger tires for Vinson

I am going to replace my tires soon and plan on going to a larger size. Either 26" or 27" ITP Mud Lites. What I would like to know is, how much trouble are the 27's going to give me. I plan on staying with stock rims and the tranny is a 5 speed. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Later,
Ray

I replace my stock tires with .3 miles on my Vinson. Yes, 1/3 of a mile. Dunlops are pure junk. I put 26" Kenda BearClaws on mine. They are also 1" wider each, and gave me better stability. There's plenty of room left in the fender wells, so I'd think you'd be fine with 27". I just didn't want to go that big.

Iv'e got 28" gators on mine with no problems. They have never rubbed. Only a slight power loss.

My wife has 27" Mudlites on her '03 Vinson Auto. They fit no problem, but do rub the rear bumper when the rear rack is loaded down (she has the Suzuki accessory bumpers front/rear). The bigger issue was the power loss. I don't know if you will notice this with the manual tranny, but was quite noticeable w/ the auto. Installed EPI FULL clutch kit (springs and weights) and got the power back. I have 26" Mudlites on my Prairie 650 and find they are plenty. I personally think 27" is overkill, unless you are a serious mudder (in which case you should check out Highlifter's new 29.5" Outlaws). The biggest advantage to the mudlites, over the stock Dunlops, is the fact that they are 6 ply. They do not roll under when you are cornering hard. On both quads the handling improved, going to the mudlites. Just my .02 cents
