What mixture are you running now? 32:1? Hows the compression? Does it smoke alot, when youre really on it?

Your plug will tell you what is going on. If it is fouling, make sure the choke is not half or full on, the check you filter to make sure she is clean. hold the plug against the head for a good graound and give it a good kick, you should see a nice blue spark if not look at your fly wheel on the left side of the engine and make sure no dirt or rust is on it. If those do not provided any solutions, next is the jetting. Give the carb a good cleaning. Did it run fine before, or is it new to you. Your plug (2 stroke or not) should have a mohca look, slight brown. Black dull or gloss is to rich and you need to change your main jet. White, you are running too lean.

I have a 86 lt250r and if your 87 is fouling plugs, check what ratio gas to oil your running. I run 32:1 and haven't fouled a plug for months. If the plug is fouled, your running to rich, or too much oil. I use YAMALUBE. If this doesn't help you should just go to a suzuki tech person and ask them what ratio you should use in your mix. It should be around 32:1. If you have a lot of mods to your quad, it would probabbly be maybe more oil or be less oil. I myself use NGK spark plugs. It could be the type of oil your running to. If its the cheap stuff, you should spend the extra 4 bucks and buy YAMALUBE. You can get it at suzuki.
Good Luck!

While we're on the subject I fouled my 89 LT500 plug cause i got bogged down and my carb is a little F'ed up, im lookin for a new one. But anyho, The guy at napa said he could give me a plug that burns a little hotter and it wouldnt do any damage to my bike butt, i wanted to see what you all say. Also, after i get home can i clean up a fouled plug with some steel wool and such or should I just chuck it. the plug was like a week old and im cheap as hell

Yep, Quite a few people use hotter plugs to keep the spark plugs clean. Just remember, youre not fixing any problems by doing that, youre just fixing symptoms. Keep an eye on plug color, if you go one step hotter, there is about a 100 degree difference in heat retained in the plug.
heres a good article on plugs plugs

Yeah run 32:1 -40:1 and maybe lower the needle location on your carb. one notch. That will definately help some unless you got more problems. DO this before you go do anything else and let me know if it works. If you arent sure what ratio you are running dump out all your gas and start fresh , please tell me you are actually measuring your oil?
