Default Vinson too heavy???

I was looking at stats on the suzuki vinson and i noticed that suzuki's claimed dry weigth is 604lbs, but there twin peaks 700 weighs only 602lbs. It would seem that the vinson would really be under powered since it weighs more than a atv 200cc's bigger. Do any vinson owners feel this weigh.

Seems like utility quads all weigh just about the same these days, something like 600 lbs, give or take a few lbs. My Eiger weighs 575 or something, and it's not even water cooled.

I think it's relative. Any other 500cc 4X4 utility quads that weigh in at just over 600 lbs? The Honda Rubicon weighs around 600 lbs too. I think the Sportsman 500 weighs close to 700 lbs. So weight-wise the Vinson is right in the ball park.

At one time I heard that there was a law or guideline that foreign/imported (not North American) ATVs couldn't weigh more than around 605 lbs. So Arctic Cat, Polaris and Bombardier all have a few heavyweights in their stables.

I'm not sure if it's a CPSC guideline or some type of law, but I do remember reading it on one of these forums.
I won't go into a detailed comparison, but I'll bet if you think about it, and do a side by side comparison, you can think of why the Vinson isn't lighter compared to the Twin Peaks/Prairie.

Just off the top of my head.
1. 3 headlights/housings vs. 2
2. Larger gas tank
3. 2 rear shocks vs. 1

It all adds up.

Re: engine power in the 500 class, the Vinson has beat the Rubicon in a drag race reported in one of the ATV mags last year. It's one of the fastest if not the fastest.

One thing I found curious was they (ATV magazines) never compared the Vinson to the Sportsman 500 H.O. I'm guessing they didn't want to embarrass Polaris. It seems natural to do that type of shootout to me anyway.

I heard the reasone the Sportsman wasn't in the compairon with the Vinson was because Polaris wouldn't give one up. Something about they didn't feel it was in the same class. They said for the type of terrain they was going to test test these wouldn't be fair.
