Eiger jetting, stock is 122! WAY too lean

Hehe, just got finished riding... Eiger seems to be running better than first account after jetting. I do feel a difference now. Now, where are my wire cutters?

Gentlemen,
I have some more to report. I'm on vacation this week so it's time to get the Eiger running better.
Just tried some new mods and OH MY! I LOVE IT!
1. Took out exhaust spark arrestor - I love the new sound, a mean, low grumble. Not too loud but just right.
2. Next, with better flow from the exhaust I figured I'd put a bigger jet in. I also pulled my spark plug and it whispered in my ear, "i want more fuel". So, moved up to the dynojet 124 size jet. - WOT is much better.
3. eiger2 mentioned the clipping of the carb spring, so i did that as well - The Eiger spring is not all that long to begin with, maybe 4 inches. I cut off about an inch. I believe its about 3 1/8 inches long now. - Another great mod, increased low end throttle response. Love it!
4. Now, with all these new mods after a hard run on the throttle and letoff I would get a number of backfires. To remedy this, just increase your idle mixture (more rich). It took about 3/4 of a turn. I believe my idle mixture screw is approx. 3 turns out now. Runs perfect! Oh, and it starts when cold soooo much better.
5. I also zip tied some pantyhose over my air intake nozzle. I got tired of getting seed pods and whatnot all over my air filter. Works wonderfully.
I'm extremely pleased with how my Eiger is running now.
Thanks to everyone!

WoW!!! Thats great to read!!!
I still love my Eiger. Its a great machine. It would still outperform a Honda Foreman!! (my brothers)
The list of mods is great and you spent how much?????.......$50 for a jet kit!!!!!!!

I have been away from this forum for a while now. I rejetted about a year ago - I cannot remember what size I went with. I ended up buying the kit for 50 bucks. I also made some modifications to my air box like akasafari suggested. Now I see clipping this spring - Consider it done - I will be doing it tonight. Have a question about the spark arrestor. That is the circular tube stuffed in the exhaust pipe held in with a little bolt? I pulled the bolt out about a year ago and could not pull out the spark arrestor. Am I missing something?

My 650V2 came stock with 122s. I added a K&N filter, 2"snorkles, backed the A/F screws out 1/4 turn each, and installed Dial-A-Jets. No rejetting needed, and it has more power, i am pleased!

You'll be happy with the spring clipping.
As for the spark arrestor, yes that cylinder thing is it. I couldnt get mine out either after removing the bolt so with a dremel tool I cut off some exhaust piping just before the bolt hole. I believe it was getting hung up in that area. All in all, I probably cut off about 2 inches or so. The spark arrestor pulled right out then. I didnt plan on using it again.
Hope this helps.

Hey guys I'm new to this site today, and let me tell ya, I couldn't wait to get home from work and start surfing. This thread is icing on the cake. I feel a little dumb for not finding ATV Connection earlier.....we've had our Eigers since August '04. I've done some quick googles for Eiger before and mostly found e-bay exhaust stuff.
Anyway, aksafari thanks for starting this thread so long ago. We lived in Palmer, AK from '01 to '05...now stationed in SD....we can't wait to get back to AK.
Now as far as the Eigers go, my wife and I love our machines, and we know three other guys that run 'em too, but I don't see many out and about...do you guys?
I have'nt messed with the carb, airbox, or filter yet, but plan to this weekend (got the next four days off). That being said, we bought our bikes in AK and rode them from 500 to appx. 3000', and they ran great there....funny thing is, they run great here too anywhere from 3500' (home) to 7k' in the hills. I'm still gonna tinker with at least mine for now.
Mods...well somebody needs to tell me how to post a pic on this forum....I'm used to DTR with my Cummins Ram, and it's easy. I've got some home-made aluminum a-arm plates, and an aluminum acces panel that attaches to the left side of the mahine to make getting at the oil filter a breeze.
You guys have seen pics of Mount Eiger in Switzerland right????

Want to see those pics and get the part #'s for the jets. I am going to go wth the 135 and do the airbox mods I think. Every one on here seems to swear by it. I need t see some pics for the better ideas. And also want to know step by step on how to remove the carb to do the jetting. Looks pretty cramped, and have t remove a bunch of stuff.
