Default Clutch survey

I have been driving for the last year or so and have got in the habbit of selecting a lower gear and letting the clutch out aswell as applying the brakes to slow down. I seem to have carried this on to my racing with my z400.
I feel slowing down this way is more controlled rather than locking up the rear wheels.
I want to know if you also do this and what damage this may cause to the clutch and gearbox.

What your doing is no different then driving a stick in a car, should'nt hurt anything by down shifting and hitting the brake's.That's how I rode my street bike when stopping.
