BHP of a lt500
#5
OK, let me explain. BHP is Brake Horsepower, meaning the horsepower at the crank on a water-brake dyno. WHP or Net Horsepower is at the wheels (what you put to the ground). True, whp will be down compared to bhp, but not that much on a quad. A car has numerous drivetrain parts to turn, so parasitic hp loss in passenger vehicles is higher. Horsepower is horsepower, regardless of where it is measured. Many people don't want to believe it because they've heard all the rumors about 500s, but they only made about 46 hp on average.

according to the spec sheets, they were 53 horse off the crank stock! did 79.865 top end. (top speed may vary on rider) I would assume probley around 49-50 horse to the ground, Depending on the length on the swingarm, type of chain and weight and size of tires.
