need some help.... all ozark and 300ex owners
i would like to ask from any of u who own a 300ex or ozark to please help answer some of thses questions, i am trying to decide which quad to get used.any way, i would really like a manual clutch because i feel more in control and plus its much more fun to ride. I've ridden a 300ex several times and like its handling but i haven't ridden in rocky or muddy areas, what i really want to know is can it handle the mud and rocks with it's ground clearance being at 5 inches. If it can i would take it over the ozark. oh by the way i found a used ozark for 2000. both the ozark and ex having pluses and minus just dont know which to pick because i ride with one friend in pennsylvannia where everyone has sports and at paragon where theres big hills, rocks, mud and water with my other friends who have utilitys, do u think a 300ex could do fine in paragon.
thanx

The 300ex would probably have more 'fun factor' status with the additional suspension and sportier chasis, but theres more maintenance required. The Ozark doesnt have a chain and sprockets that wear out or a manual clutch that could slip when hot. I'm just being hypothetical and I know Hondas are known for their reliability, but i'm just listing some factors due to this tough choice.
Heck, I own an Ozark, but i'd probably get the 300ex.

The biggest difference is that the 300EX has real sport bike suspension, where the Ozark has ute suspension!
In the real technical, rocky stuff, an autoclutch is much nicer. With a full manual, you have to be slipping and working the clutch when you are riding real slow. But, on more open trails the manual is better. The 300 engine mods up real nice, when you want more power.

thanx guys for all ur info, im taking it into perspective, anyway i was thinking, to boost the ex's ground clearance could i put bigger tires on it, maybe bear claws? I've never ridden an ozark before but have be looking at it. The ex proboly has more power so if it had the ground clearance and mud tires it could actually be better than the ozark in mud...... just a theory. also does the ex have more torque than the ozark. for the maintenance i'm sure that if u just clean ur quad after every ride and dont let mud still on the chain or sprocket in bearings etc. u wont have much problems

I've always loved the 300EX. I would never have thought I would ever even put the Ozark in the same class. Then my girlfriend got one. I absolutely love it. If I was going to spend $2000 on one or the other I would have to get the Ozark. (You should be able to get a 300EX for a little less.) BTW. I'm a die hard HONDA guy.
I say you get the Ozark and talk one of your buddies into getting the EX so you can get to ride them both! HA!
