Default Banshee motor in a LT250R?

Anyone ever done that before? or seen it done?

I rode a Banshee last weekend, and of course I liked the power (it was a 410 on race-gas) but it handled like crap compared to my LT250R. I would expect that everything has been put into everything at least once somewhere, but I was hoping someone here might have some knowledge of such a conversion.

I can tell my '85 250 is not going to keep me happy much longer... even after porting and shaving head... still too slow for me. do '87 250's have a lot more power? mine is like 24HP stock I think.

YES!!!---the 87 through 92 quadracers stock for stock are faster-more powerful. The 85 and 86 are 5 speed's,and have no exhaust valve, they dont respond as well to mods.87's are the fastest, they had the largest ports....it would probably be cheaper to buy an 87-92 lt250 and mod it to be faster than a banshee, than to buy a banshee motor and put it in your quadracer.

see a lot of street bike engines in those, the power would be a improvement.

I don't think a street bike engine interests me, it would probly handle like **** LOL

One thing I like about my 85 is that stock weight is only 293lbs. It's pretty easy to muscle around when I get stuck in trails (sand trails, there's a lot of them in oregon, we took some that a friends Zilla wouldn't fit on, but mine would). I heard the newer ones are heavier. Plus I like how mine handles, so I aint ready to just toss it yet.

So you are saying a '87-92 motor will make more power for less money than a Banshee motor? How about a Honda 250R motor?

I wouldn't waste the time putting a 250r motor in it, not much if any differance. just get a big bore kit for yours or stroke it.

so is there a big-bore for a '85-86 LT250R motor? Never have I seen one. I thought about grafting a V-style reedcage onto the cylinder, but it probly wouldn't work.

Your right, build a full blown stroker LT 250 and you might hang with a stock banshee motor. Stock pipes and all.
