when I had mine done the bike ws still stock except it was piped and jetted and had a big gun cdi box
I spent $2500 for the motor work. ( bored, resealed, cams, carb, ported, polished, gaskets, dyna cdi, piston)
it can get costly

i would get a Hot Cam Stage 2 Cam w/ Kibble White Dual Rate Springs and a 11:1 Piston, then a Rev-Box.

I agree with the cams, but you can get the valvesprings and base gasket form the DRZe(I think it was the e model) dirtbike. The valvesprings are stiffer and the base gasket is thinner. Stock compression is ~11:1 the base gasket bumps it up to ~12:1. The valve springs are only about $8 each.

This gave me as much or more of a power gain over the pipe alone as the pipe did over the stock Z. A lot more mid range and top end power, Revs more freely.

Suspension, suspension, suspension. The stock motor already out performes the suspension. If money is a concern then get a steering stabilizer, most noticible difference for the money.
