If so, how do you carry it on the quad?

 

First of all, Hello. And welcome to the forums!!!
I carry one on mine, its a handheld one, but you can buy the handle bar attachment for it.

 

I carry mine on my handlebars. If you have a Garmin GPS they make an attachment just for your ATV. Looks good and is very stable. I bought mine at Sportsmans but you can get them just about anywere that sell Garmin. If you don't have a Garmin they also make a generic GPS mount but IMO it looks funny and doesn't work quite as well.

Outrage, Is sportsmans on the internet? Do you think it would hold up in hard pack terrain as well as dunes?

Sorry it's Sportsman's Warehouse and I believe they have a web site too. Yes I keep mine on the handlebars and let tell you that it will hold up on ANY terrian. I know this from experience. Three weeks ago I flipped and rolled my ATV three times down a hill and my believe it or not but my GPS was still intact! My GPS is waterproof so I'm not worried about the rain but I did make myself a cover because I got tired of wiping the dust off to see the screen.

I have a Garmin Rino and I bought a handle bar attachment for it

 

If you don't need to look at your GPS all the time to find a trail but only need to bring it out upon occasion to find out where you are then maybe just keeping it in a backpack or something is a better option. I only use mine when I'm riding an area I'm not familiar with or marking a trail. Good luck in your search.

 

Sometimes its hard to read if you want to see your speed while moving, so I take it off sometimes.
