This was also the problem with my friends raptor.

Did you clean the starter jet? It is the 3rd jet you see in the bowl.

 

Have guted this carb 6 times and cleaned it out. I have blown air through the starter jet and felt it going through the rest of the carb and choke port.
I have run out of ideas of what is going on with this.
Like stated above, if its cold it will just turn over and sound like its trying to fire but wont. If I push it down the driveway and pop the clutch it will fire right up and run fine.

when you say the valves are fine, how do you know this?? if the seats are ate up from the sand the only way to tell is by leak down test or by tearing it down. do you have any buds that have the same bike? if so steal the carb and try it. if problem is still there then move on, 6 times apart should have already found a carb problem if one. just fixed 300 ex with too tight of valves, yes would push start and run great, just would not start with starter - wouldn't crank as fast as pushing.

A buddy had the same problem with a Warrior. It acted just like what you said. It could only be push started. He took it to a dealer. It was the stator ( NOT STARTER). About a year later the same thing happened to his brother's Warrior. It was a bad stator also.

 

it might just be the stator pickup as well. same thing happened to my warrior and that was the prob

 

i having same problem as you dude no one no what it is if it was stator the battery would be dead after you ride it battery would not gain it charge i change the stator and it still wont work
