Do u have to have the black and yellow from the cdi hooked up

Wiring diagram shows plain black from CDI to ignition coil. Check what colour wires go to that coil. Wiring diagram also shows yellow/black wire to be kill wire but doesn't indicate if it is earth to kill or earth to run. If it won't spark with the yellow/black disconnected, try earthing it and see if you then get a spark. The diagram is for 87 models though, other years may be totally different.
