Default LTZ400 Misfiring

Hi I am new to the forum and I have a problem with my 03' Z400. When it strats it fires up no problem with the choke on. Once you start to take the choke off as it starts to warm up it wants to turn off and starts to run rough. If I rev it up and let the throttle off it sounds like its backfiring city. I checked the petchock valve to make sure gas was flowing seems to be fine. It seems like its the carb but I don't know. Can somebody help?

You might have a pluged (pilot) jet. Pull the bowl off an clean out the carb.

Sounds daft but is there enough fuel in the tank?

Had the same problem with the Z250 which would run Ok on prime but backfire otherwise...........the tank was low on fuel and the lower of the two pipes on the petcock was still dragging fuel but the upper one wasn't!!!!!!!!!!!!

No comments lads!!

No, no work done to it yet. It's all stock. At first I thought it might be the gas so I changed that but no success.

Yah. I took the petchock of and found some little pieces of dirt or crud and cleaned it out pretty good. It seems to be working ok now thanks to everybody's suggestions.
