Someone is feeding you a line of bull then.

246 Cubic centimeters equals 0.259945 Quarts, somehow I think the quad holds more than a quarter quart of oil.

He is probably thinking of a number he saw in ml's.... I remember an old bike I had saying 800ml near the oil filler.

Ok...well i need to clear this up somehow....can some of you 230 owners tell me what your stamp says?
I was thinking LT250R being a round jug....but thats a 2 stroke. The 4 stroke is finned like the 230 from what i can tell.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

As I told you before, zuki made an lt250 quadsport 4 stroke, not just the 250R 2 stroke. No one would ever tell you that you have a 2 stroke cylinder and head on a 4 stroke case...

I hear ya man....when u said 250...i automatically thought of the 2 stroke 250R....i totally forgot they had made a 4 stroke 250.

Is that 246cm3 marking clearly making this a 250? or are there other differences that I would find?
Only reason Im trying to clear this is I have to buy a few parts and need to know what the hell this machine has got?

I have the vin for the bike, and the vin tag also says lt230s.

I do appreciate all your help!

On my old quadsport 230 87,i think that was written 229cm3 on the engine so I think you a have QuadSport Lt-250S Engine (4stroke) in your atv

i know the lt250s cylinder and head bolt up to the 230 motor, because the cases look like a 230 motor, and the jug, and topend are 9 outta 10 a lt250s swap...

You probably have a 89-90 250 quadsport engine in your 230 frame. It's the only 250 4 stroke ATV engine Suzuki ever made that had a manual clutch. They bolt up the same as the 230. The easiest way to check is to check the reverse. On the 230 quadsports, to put it in reverse, you have to kick the reverse lever forward. For 250 quadsports, the reverse lever has to be kicked backwards for reverse just like a 230 E. Hope this helps.

Thats what its appearing to be. I can't start the bike right now...its partially apart...but the shift lever for reverse feels like it wants to go back and not forward.

Thanks for all your help guys...it appears we have a 250 swap.

A Lot of times that is correct also , next to where you out oil in your bike or ATV, dipstick , etc it will have a cm number as well and will be amount of oil bike holds, and as I'm gathering on side of the cylinder the cm^3 is the cc of the bike/quad still learning as I go everyday🤷😎
