if you ask me: i dont like the older ones because like the guy above said..hard to find parts...also the powervalve makes a HUGE difference in power and smoothness..ive driven an 85 and it feels like a dirtbike not a quad....def. go with a later model LT if you can find one..if you live near south tex..im thinkin bout sellin mine..just got it fully rebuilt last month

I have an 86 and it rips. Parts arent hard to find despite what some people say. You can get pipes reeds, a-arms, porting, etc. I just put a Keihin pwk 36mm carb on my quad and went to pismo and was hanging with my brother on his 86 trx250r at the drags. The speeds were close so it was down to who got the better launche and didnt mis-shift. The best part is, that since many think that they are old an obsolete, you can pick them up pretty cheap, and with the money saved, put a lot of mods on. The motors are very reliable. My bottom end is stock and is still tight. I have only done one topend rebuild about 3 years ago.

Im gonna be parting with my 89 Quadzilla some time in July you can PM me if your interested. why settle for the 250 when you can have the 500 with powervalve. It rides like a bat out of hell

how fast is the 86 lt250r top speed that you have cause some domea** tried to tell me with stock gearing no matter what mods you do to it it will only reach 60 mph
