Default '87 LT500 Zilla.

Hey guys, I might purchase an 87 zilla if I can get it cheap enough.

I would like to know what kind of things are weak on it. I heard something about the lead leaks easily way back when, but can't really recall it.

Any pointers and details you guys could give me on an 87 style Zilla would be incredibly appreciated.

Well, I've done numerous searches and all I could really find that was a well known problem were that 87s have one less head bolt so the gasket blows easier? Also cases spliting. The rest I just thought looked like Rider error and what not.

here is a summory:

1 less head stud, the studs will expands and cause the head gasket to blow out. this can be fixed by having larger studs put in.
on all zillas the crank bearings are prone to spin, $300 to send them off and have a insert put in to prevent them prom spinning.

on the 87 the intake is bigger so there is a + for the 87 model
