Default lt230 new rebuild

i have just finished putting my lt230s back togeather. I put in new valves and gaskets. the piston rings, and head looked like they fit perfectly with no imperfections in the bore, so i did not replace the piston and rings. before this quad smoked like crazy. now it smakes alot less, however there is still blue somke, alot less, but it is still there. should i have done rings anyway, or is there probably just some oil build up in the pipe that is still buring off. i have only ran it for 5 min so far because if in needs new rings, i dont want to deal with dirty oil again. should i just run it for a day and see what happens?

you could do a compression test on it to see what condition the rings are in. While you had it apart rings wouldn't have been a bad idea. You should have atleast checked the piston to bore clearance and the end gap on the rings.
