has anyone had any engine problems with a Z400? are they reliable? more reliable than a honda? or equal?

 

Ive had a my z for about 5months now and have ridden it a good 5 weeks or so worth of solid vacation in the summer with no engine problems what so ever. Although if you cross a creek high speed it will sputter until it warms up again. Id say hondas are still more reliable but the z is pretty dam close.

 

We just sold our 03 w/ 300hrs. Not one single problem and all the time was in the dunes w/ tremendous stress climbing 2-500ft dunes constantly.. We bought a built Athena 434z that is just a rocket..

There really reliable.I don't even think i've heard of anyone having engine trouble with the motor stock.

 

Nope, not a single problem and I've ridden mine very very hard.

 

Motorwise, just heard of people having the starter clutch bolts come loose and wreak some havoc on the stator/flywheel area. I loctited and re-torqued mine just for peace of mind, took all of 20 minutes. Most cases with this problem were with hotcams and 10-11k rpm rev limmiters. Mine's been nothing but reliable for me.

 

i have put a hard 900 miles on it since i got it in march and haven't had a problem yet.. knock on wood
