Zilla pheen make sure you try a 380 main. I am running a 380 with a 87 carb and its real close to perfect. Also I think you may have an air leak. Also try spraying the wd40 behind the flywheel to check the crank seal. I would recomend doing a leak test. I think this will help you the most go to this web sight and check it out. They describe your problem exactly.

Sounds like the needle is lean or air screw is wrong idle shouldent hang. Stock carb is ok but needs to be reworked. It has a bleed type emulsion tobe(needle jet) Go to @ an R-2 or 4 389 series. Theres a brass ball in the bell side of the carb centered on the needle, drill it out, this cures the leanspot people claim these carbs have. A good option is to go to FTZ and and get their 39- 41.5carb comes really close if you tell them where you are. What fuel do you run, You need better than pump gass even in a stocker 100oct. min. use a good oil I like maxima 927 or klotz benol 32:1 to 40:1 depends on the day and jetting. If you run good fuel you can have the head done this makes starting easier and gives better power. good luck

Ok I got a newer 88+ carb that I won off ebay. She seems to be running alot better. I have a 420 main and a 25 pilot in it as of now. I have a couple of questions though. The air screw on the carb...the little one....I have it set at 1 1/2 out because thats what everybody keeps recomending. But what exactly does this screw do?....can anybody explain it to me. Also the bike when i'm off the gas the idle seems to be surging....i am clueless as to what can be causeing this. Any ides would be greatfull. Thanks in advance.
