Default 02 Eiger loses power and backfires at high speed

I have a 2002 Eiger 400 Auto.
It runs fine at lower speeds.
However, the last two times I got it up over 30mph and kept it there for a minute or two the following happened.

The motor/rpm dropped significantly which was followed by a fairly loud backfire. (just one pop). Depressing the throttle did nothing it was like the throttle cable was unhooked.

Both times, I let off the throttle, let it coast for a few seconds before getting back into the throttle. Then the machine took back off and ran fine.

Any ideas.

Thanks

Low on gas, float in carb set too low, gas line restricted?
Have you tried reserve or prime?

this happens to me all the time....i get stuff stuck in the main jet, it won't go over 25-30mph and it bogs and coughs....Will it do it with the choke on, or does it get better....i'd take the bowl off the carb and clean it, hope that helps

I concur, main jet clog. I had a spider leg in mine one time and it did almost exactly the same thing.
