Let me start my story by telling you a little about myself i reguarly buy sell and trade cars trucks quads etc. But my bets trade ever was when about the middle of thris summer when i traded a rce ready kx250 for a 2004 Suzuki Ozark. And being the trusting fool i am i didnt make any receipts or bills of sale for this transaction. And to make a long complicated story involving a <u>girl</u> grrrrrrr and a couple months about 2 weks ago the state police come to my house looking for my ozark and accusing me of stealing it. They took my quad harrassed the **** out of me and the detective said he wouldnt rest untill he had exposed me. Now i have never done anything illegal in my life except for a little road riding and the jackas is accusing me of stealing this fourwheeler and at the same time saying that i didnt steal it but im splitting the insurance money with the last owner and im now waiting for detective pourdam to get back to me. lets here it.

For someone who buys sells and trades a lot I would think you would always get a bill of sale. Sorry dude I don't mean to sound like a jerk but its hard to trust anyone when it comes to money!

 

bill of sales are MANDATORY.

I deal a lot with used VWs and it's the same thing. if you can't prove that you are the rightful owner...whoever has there name attached to the last piece of paper for the car....gets the car.

You never said how the Police knew the quad was at your house. If you bought it from the girl why don't you call her and get a bill of sale now? Did the Police question her? At this point I agree with Curls as well. If it was a legal trade with the girl then the police talking with her should just about fix everything and can't you prove who you originally bought it from?

If something is actually legal......and you and someone else can prove it.......then most likely you will be fine.



The fact is though, you need to be able to prove your innocence
