Megan- UNI/USA and UNI/AUS are two separate companies. The 2494 kit number they sent me is for UNI/AUS. Sorry for the mix-up. The 2494 is much more expensive than the 2486ST. I think with the exchange rate, it would be fifty plus dollars for the 2494.

Megan,

How did your intake look? Yours was probably clean because it is so new, but then again some new owners are seeing dirt/dust.
Also, did you get any word back from Suzuki?

I would LOVE a class action law suit initiated. I would be the first one to sign up!

My dealership has been hearing about the filter issue and up-channeled to Suzuki.
There is no doubt that they are hearing about this, the question is........WHAT are they going to do for us??

Here's a dumb question..

How do I get to the air filter and clean it? Is it on top of the 4 wheeler? Also, can the uni filter be installed easily or is that a dealer type fix?

The air filter is in front of the seat under the plastic, where the gas tank usually is on utes. To get to it just take the seat off, remove the two black plastic fittings, and then the plastic will slid right out. Then just unscrew the screw and pull out the air filter. I just got the Uni Filter and it is simple to install, no modifications needed at all, just drop it in after you oil it, and use the stock screw to tighten it up. Don't bother cleaning the stock one, you need an aftermarket.

Speaking of two black plastic fittings, has anyone noticed their uncanny ability to find hiding places when you try and take them out! Whoever in Suzuki Corp was responsible for the decision to use these clips should be punished severely.

Yeah I'm not to fond of them, ecspecially when I have to check the oil, takes a lot longer than it should. I've dropped a few of them down onto the top of the skid plate too...but I do think the guards that cover the engine on the sides improve the apperance overall, they make it so you don't see the dirty engine and the top of the skid plate when it gets all cloged with mud. But they should have made snap on plastic so you don't have to worry about tiny plastic fittings.

I have not checked my intake yet. I too was wondering how to check it. I am going to drop it off at the dealers on Monday for it's first service so I will check it before I take it into them. Also my UNI filter still has not come in yet. Can you believe that? How did you get yours so fast Toyeboy? MIne was ordered over a month ago? When did you order yours?

Megan , If your UNI does'nt come in soon K&N has one for the king now. Part # SU-7005( air ) $60.00 & KN-138( oil ) $12.75 In my opinion K&N is a better filter.

Megan, I got their phone number after contacting them through email, I called direct to Uni, they said I couldn't buy over the phone..but they gave me a number to call to get the Uni directly from the factory and it was here in less than a week. I paid with a credit card and it was only $22.95 plus $7 shipping.

The filter on mine has been replaced by the Uni. My problem NOW is the recall on the tie rods. I've been trying to get them fixed under the recall for 3 and a 1/2 months! My dealer says Suzuki has not sent them the parts. The recall says the tie rods can cause the steering to get wobbly. That's an understatement! My son was riding mine down the street to find his sister and the steering went nuts on him and the quad flipped 3 times rolling over him TWICE! He had skin grafts to his right arm, right hip, right shoulder, and broke the bone in his upper right arm. If he hadn't worn a helmet (We ALWAYS do), he'd have died! The screws in the side of his helmet were ground down to nothing! Quads totalled. Suzuki is replacing my quad under warranty and has offered to pay what my insurance didn't for medical bills to keep me from suing their asses but I'm considering it anyway. Has anyone else had ANY steering troubles???? The recall affects most '05s and some early production '06s.
