King Quad smoking due to BAD FILTER! Pictures

I just bought a new KQ last weekend and got a Uni filter with it. When I went to install it I was a bit confused. Do you oil the red prefilter as well as the yellow foam filter?

The filter on mine has been replaced by the Uni. My problem NOW is the recall on the tie rods. I've been trying to get them fixed under the recall for 3 and a 1/2 months! My dealer says Suzuki has not sent them the parts. The recall says the tie rods can cause the steering to get wobbly. That's an understatement! My son was riding mine down the street to find his sister and the steering went nuts on him and the quad flipped 3 times rolling over him TWICE! He had skin grafts to his right arm, right hip, right shoulder, and broke the bone in his upper right arm. If he hadn't worn a helmet (We ALWAYS do), he'd have died! The screws in the side of his helmet were ground down to nothing! Quads totalled. Suzuki is replacing my quad under warranty and has offered to pay what my insurance didn't for medical bills to keep me from suing their asses but I'm considering it anyway. Has anyone else had ANY steering troubles???? The recall affects most '05s and some early production '06s.

I've not had the problem yet... but it sure makes me think that the aftermarket stabilizer is 140 bucks well spent! I heard too that they are going to make an application taylored for the KQ soon and you will not have any grinding to get it to fit right...
It will end the problem for what I hear.

Megan. The caster mod that is in detail on the Nyros site and the HL site helps with the wheel kick. Mine did the same thing going down hills. Also takes the twitchy feel out or the bars at high speed. After I did the caster mod I cannot get it to do it now. The stabalizer will also help. here is a link to my post over on Nyroc.

I hope this will be some help.

Has anyone heard anything positive about our filter situation?
I am still waiting on something from Suzuki on this.......as we all should be.
I know that dealers have become involved, but thats the last i heard.
Any new updates would be greatly appreciated!!
If you have one, please share with the rest of us.

Gladesteen maybe some good news. I stopped by my local Honda/Suzuki dealer today to pick up an oil filter and more plastic fastner clips (see above), and was talking to a friend who is a salesman there. He indicated that Suzuki may finally be getting proactive in resolving this issue with KQ buyers as they are getting info from them that something is on the horizon. He suspects it will be a recall, and the hold up may involve Suzuki deciding what the fix will be - like who gets the contract to provide a filter that works. Hopefully it will be Uni, or Twin as they seem to pretty well have a great filter dialed in.
Personally, I think a class action suit is the answer that requires them to provide every buyer a free 48 month extended warranty. Otherwise, like all big companies they will only offer the cheapest solution.

Corona,
Thats great news!!!
Has anyone else heard anything? How about you, KDOG?
The last we heard was you were waiting on a response back from Suzuki. We need more dealers, like you, to keep us posted.
I agree that a class action law suit might be the answer, but if Suzuki offers an extended warranty I would be happy with that.
At least i would know that my bike is covered due to this filter fiasco.
