Suzuki is replacing my quad under warranty and has offered to pay what my insurance didn't for medical bills to keep me from suing their asses but I'm considering it anyway.

My son was riding mine down the street to find his sister and the steering went nuts on him and the quad flipped 3 times rolling over him TWICE! He had skin grafts to his right arm, right hip, right shoulder, and broke the bone in his upper right arm. If he hadn't worn a helmet (We ALWAYS do), he'd have died! The screws in the side of his helmet were ground down to nothing!
While the surgeries and the skin grafts are bad and painful he was wearing that helmet. This means he isn't in a head injury ward which is 10000% worse that what he is dealing with. If you haven't been to a brain damage rehab facility then by all means anyone who rides should try to get to one at least once. Nothing like seeing kids younger than you and folks your own age all tarded up due to head injuries. Some will recover. Sadly many will never recover fully. Those that can recover face months and even years of learning to walk and talk again. Even with that they are never quite the same person again. The brain has a remarkable ability to heal itself but with that ability comes change. Change of personality and who the person actually is. The person before isn't quite the same person as the person after in many cases.

I hate helmets. Helmets are a pain in the ***. The alternative is a much bigger pain in the *** what with the wheelchairs and irreparable brain damage and all. It only takes a second to slip that brain bucket over your noggin. It only takes a split second for something really bad to happen. I've got into the habit so that I even put mine on if I'm riding down to the mailbox. Why? Because I managed to dump my ATV while getting the mail one day. Riding down a gravel lane to get the stupid mail. A freak accident. A freak accident that could have left me permanently injured.

It only takes a second to put on that helmet. You may have the rest of your life to regret not doing it.

would I be alright to just replace the filter with a K&N or a Uni, or do I have to get the full kit? Oil and etc.. Can I just drop in the new filter like the old one? What do I need to do.

You need to get the full kit and the filter must be oiled.

I just bought the Uni filter, not the kit...I'm going to buy regular foam filter oil from a local store it's cheaper...I'm not going to pay another $20 for their oil, all oil is the same to me!

What else comes besides the filter. I have like a 4 prong plastic housing over the butterfly, the filter fits around. Also, how do you oil your filter? What kind of oil?

Take a look at my photo page in the twin air album. You need the cage and lid. All filter oil is not the same. Some works better than others.

ToyBoy! I am not trying to be a ____ hole but! All filter oil is not the same. Some works better than others. Your going to complain about $20 an a $7000 plus machine??? Why take the chance when it is prover that if dirt gets past the filter, you are screwed. Then you can say, now I need a motor repair.

Yeah...I know some are better than others but I just paid $30 for the Uni filter(which includes the cage and lid) and I don't want to wait for the oil in the mail, and that'd be at least $50 total on the airfilter/oil that I shouldn't have to spend. The damage is most likely already done on my KQ so it doesn't really matter how good the oil is. Plus I'm going to sell my KQ, partly because I need the money and partly because of this filter problem.

Got my kq back from the rebuild last friday evening and i love it more than ever.I installed a twin air filter, hmf pipe and power commander(used the map off their site for the combination i had and it seems perfect).Everyone wanted to drag race me this weekend,i figured i had put enough miles on it to turn it loose so i did.I beat a new rincon pretty badly,a 500 foreman wasn't even close and a 660 grizzly pretty badly as well. Now all these atv's had 25's on them as well.i'm running 27 inch mudlite radials so i was pretty happy. All of them were pretty close for about 15-20 yards, then i smoked them badly. The closest race i had was (don't laugh) against a Jeep grand cherokee V-8 4x4,but i beat it too.I am very pleased with the work they did and the parts i added.Just wanted to share.Oh yeah sportsman 800 is next this weekend,i don't know about that one, they are pretty fast.
