Thanks for clearing that up ToyeBoy. I did not know that and I am sorry for the confusion. When I tried to get my Twin Air one dealer told me just to order the filter without the cage and lid. That would have been a problem and I haven't been back there since. I thought the Uni was the same deal.
Thanks

Well, this is my first post. I too have noticed that I have a very small amount of dust on the butterfly valve in my KQ. I have the stock paper filter. I have about 120 miles on it so hopefully no serious damage has been done. I notified my dealer and they are aware of it. My dealer is in Sedalia, Missouri, Yeager's Motorcycles to be exact. I am stationed at Whiteman AFB. I have a Uni on order and will be installing that ASAP. This forum is exactly what I have been looking for ever siince I purchased my KQ.

I tried to buy a TwinAir form my dealer and they also said that it doesn't come with a cage. I only know that is need a cage thanks to DavAsh. They tried to get me to buy just the filter and run it without a cage. I bought it direct form TwinAir and installed it this weekend and love it. I haven't seen a Uni but I would be willing to say that the TA has to have the best sealing system. the lid has a big double edge seal all the way around it and it squishes aginst the top of the air box. when you tighten down the lid it pushes down on the cage which inturn squishes the foam filter ring at the bottom between the cage and the bottom of the air box. the wing nut tightens the lid seal and tightens the filter tight aginst the bottom of the air box all at the same time. there is no way anything is getting in unless it goes through the filter. I didn't want to spen the 80 bucks but am very happy with it and would do it again with no questions asked. matter a fact I just bought an 06 Eiger and as soon as I can get the money together I will buy a Twin Air for it.
Thanks DavAsh you diffently didn't stear me wrong! You the man.

GC, Just one more thing. Did you buy the filter oil? The filter must be oiled before you install and run you bike with it on. I was just wondering since you said $80 bucks.
Thanks Dav

Hello all,
I just got my KQ back last night after the rebuild. My dealer had to replace the piston, rings, and cylender. He would not let me take the ATV out of his shop before a new Twin Air filter was installed. He also installed new bushings in the primary clutch. Suzuki would not pay for that part, but my dealer did. It cost me $80.40 for the Twin Air filter with cage, and a can of Hi-tack Maxima Fab-1 filter oil. He recomended my getting a box of latex gloves when I clean and re-oil the filter. This oil is like glue, very sticky and hard to get off your hands. Hopefully today warms up enough to take it for a ride. It is only 7 degrees here now.

Dav Ash I did order the cleaner and the oil but when I spoke with the TwinAir rep he said that the filter comes pre oiled. when I rec'd the filter the outside of the ziplock bag said that it was a preoiled filter so I didn't oil before installing. should I have oiled it again before installing?

troubled, I hope you decide to hang onto that King. You have a good machine, you really do. I'd say wipe the slate clean and be happy with it from here on out. You have a great dealer by the way, it sounds like.
