KDog 33, I respectfully disagree. Are you trying to do damage control for Suzuki? First Suzuki told me that it was MY fault and no rebuild. Then, like a month and a half and a few grey hairs later, they said it was their paper filter that failed and now you say its the DEALERS fault for the trashed engine.

The filter is supposed to be greased??? Funny, that part comes pre-assembled from the factory with no grease at all. Funny, it says NOTHING about it in the owners manual. Are there any other parts on the bike that need grease that Suzuki forgot about and we are supposed to just know? Does it say to grease the seal in the shop manual?

If you want to talk to a great dealership that has seen this problem, first hand, call Team Motorsports in Green Bay and ask for Dan. He has had four smoking KQ's and on all of them the airbox/filter seal was clean. My filter was clean on the bottom seal but dirty on the inside of the filter, including the inside top cover. If the seal was leaking, how did the dust get to the TOP of the filter?

Also, what happens when your customers remove the factory filter (that you greased) and install a new paper filter, as per owners manual maintenance instructions? It dosent come with grease... I guess anyone that makes more than 5.00/hr would know that suzuki just forgot to include filter grease with the new $30.00 fitler assy. According to you, you have the only capable mechanic in the continential US and Canada.

BTW, The mechanic that worked on my machine (rebuild) has over 25 years expierence at that dealership. I'm sure you think he's a hack, but I am confident that he is a capable mechanic. He got my filter warrentied and installed a Uni. Great service. (great quad)

A $7000 machine isnt worth the risk over a $30.00 filter that may/may not be faulty.

Has anyone checked out the "seal" between the plastic and the metal down inside the throttle body? Could it be that the filter will test fine, the seal might look like it doesn't leak and the dust could be pulled in at the crack or around the plastic peice that sits down inside the opening inside the throttle body? All below the filter....

As long as the uni filters are keeping the dirt out then I guess that is not the problem, anyone using a uni or twin air find dust in there still? How many miles before we see the dust and crud down in the throttle body if it is not the filter?

It has to be the filter of no one is having problems after they install the filter.

I've got an '05 KQ. It has 150hrs and smokes! My intake is full of dust. The OEM filter has NEVER had a lick of oil on it. The dealership says they have never oiled one and knows nothing of oiling them. It's funny though...My son's '05 Ozark 250 IS oiled from the factory. My KQ smokes when you start it up until it warms up and it smokes is reverse with the rev limiter activating.

MonZooki -
People have said that after installing the UNI or Twinair, the intake remained clean....so that narrows it down to the factory filter.

Moitonaudio01-
Sorry to hear it that you KQ is being damaged. Make sure you have your dealership call Suzuki and you also call the Quality contol dept! (number is in this thread) The more complaints they get, the sooner a recall will be established. They will have to do something about it soon!

DO YOU HEAR US SUZUKI !!?!!?!!?!!??

did those of you that have switched to the twin air filter install only the foam filter and wingnut on top or did you use the kit with the filter, cage and air box lid for $79.95?

Th e$79.95 kit! I was told without the cage that the kit comes with the filter could colapse in some! I just put the lid cage and all in! The cage also helps out with the seal at the bottom! Puts direct preasure down on the dowom of the filter and the botom of the air box! Tighter seal! And it helps hold the filter in the corect shape! I still applied sealer grease (no toil) around the bottom!
