Im having the same problem now. At first I was thinking it was something coming from the bottom....... the skid plate on my 230 was covered in oil come to find out I have a leak at the oil seal that comes out of the mag cover for the clutch arm only a $2.50 part (6.00 for shipping)
Just one thing you may want to look at before taking off the skid plate.

well, i just got off work and couldnt wait until tomorrow so i grabbed a flashlight and put it up on the grab bar and started takin it apart. the piece that the drain plug bolt screws into was cracked. i took it off and it was in 2 pieces. luckily, my 1st 230 came with a parts engine, so my prob is fixed

good that you got it figured out. make sure to inspect the bottom of the crank case though. that 230 could've been bottomed out hard. or if you're lucky, some chowder head just over torqued the drain plug.

Anyone ever try taking off the mag cover without draining the oil by putting the quad on it's side a little ?
I need to take the mag cover off but just changed the oil a few weeks back and now I have a leak at the oil seal that comes out of the mag cover for the clutch arm.

thought id check up on yall an see how them bad ol lt230s are duing,...ended up getting a retired quad mechanic to look at my lil frankinsrort lt230/160 an determined that it needed some internal carb parts, that dont come in a rebuild kit an he'll be back in town soon to get it back together,...cant wait to see my 7 year old son puttin round on it,decided to give it to him to ride an my lil gurl gets his old chineese 90cc,...i found me a good used polaris 2stroke 4x4 an decided creek bed runs are my favoright!! ill post back on frankinsport when we get it back together!!

well if you pop the mag cover you'll need a new gasket for it. there is a way to pop the seal out without having to remove the mag cover. take a straight screw driver and pinch it through the seal and pry on the seal, just work it aroun til it pops out. then just use a deep well socket to drive the new seal in. i've done this a few times and it worked out well.

would anyone on here be interested in lifetime warrantied brake lines? they use a double banjo bolt on the master cylinder and 2 lines run to the calipers, one for each side. they are also braided stainless steel lines too, kinda neat looking. i can order front lines and rear lines. the rear lines can even be made to fit an extended swinger.

but what i came to talk about is my lt230e, as you may know ive been having trouble with my lt230e carb. I decided that im going to take the carb off my lt230s (sitting in my garage) and i cleaned her and am going to put it on my lt230e and she how she works. i cleaned it allready but just need to put it on.
