Ya, but we pulled the whole bike apart last night. The jug and piston are in good looking shape. The whole bike is down to the frame. Guess I'm doing a mild restoration

Yeah mine was the same freakin way I hate having to modify "bolt on" aftermarket parts and if mine had been a mistake I would have sent it back...but they claim it isn't a mistake lol and they're all made that way. Some guys have put in longer studs which can be a pain. I decided to cut off part of that fatter part so it was slightly longer than the original head pipe was. I then held it flush on the belt sander to get it perfectly smooth again making it fit using the stock studs. Only issue that causes is where the muffler mounts to the frame the holes no longer line up due to the fact that the head pipe is pushed further towards the back of the quad. I cut about a half inch off the pipe where the muffler slides on and also elongated the holes where the muffler mounts so it would fit properly. Its an pain but I really do like the way it sounds and feels.

Yep they assured me it was the right one too. I sent it back I don't want to be bothered with stuff like that. I'm paying good money for something that is supposed to work not be moddified. I also sent the photo of the two headpipes together that i have posted up here along with it. And put a sticky not on it saying "Do these headers look anything alike to you?"

that might get their attention! The stock exhaust was shot on mine and I didn't want to go with the cobra pipe either. I had the cobra exhaust setup on my old 250 yamaha timberwolf and I hated it. Sounded like crap and didn't last long either.

The reason I ask is if its smoking, the odds are incredibly good that the rod bearings are shot too. And that means your new bore job will smoke in about a year... maybe less. So, your options would to send the crank off for a new rod or plan to bore it out once a year or just ride it smoking. These engines will actually run pretty good with low compression and smoking like tar wagon. I wouldn't put a big bore kit on a bad rod.

I would check the rod first. If it rocks on the crank and/or if the wrist pin rocks inside the rod, you have a bad rod.
