Never mind lol I know about the 250s. I was referring to the quadrunner. If he says it's an 89 lt230, that would be an "e" model correct?

Yeah if the 230 part is true.

No one knows about the 250s though. I called cometic to have a gasket made and after a long pause I said "its the same as a 230... only bigger". And he said "Oh ok I was just thinking that. We don't list the 250s." If cometic doesn't know about it, who does? lol

I've seen 2 lt250s's listed on craigslist in the past 3 years in my area. I even went and looked at one of them. It was pretty beat but the guy knew what he had and I just couldn't talk him down far enough...

They will and often do take a beating. I know of one that almost never had the oil changed. It wadded up the rod thrust bearings and spit them out into the crankcase. Engine ran great until a chunk of something would lodge in the gears. Had to roll it backwards to free it and ride some more lol. I really can't put into words the amount of abuse that engine endured.

he must not know what year it is because it has a clutch and kick start i didnt mean i was giving my trade plus 400 my trade is worth 800-1000 but only have 400 bucks in it.

Like Randy said, the case, stator cover or both are probably cracked from throwing the chain, which is caused by poor maintenance to the rear swingarm bearings. Look it over good and see what you think. I got lucky with mine, the swingarm itself was shot and it threw the chain but didn't crack the case. I was able to find a brand new swingarm on Ebay for $220 shipped but that was about 6 years ago now. The stator covers are pricey if that one turns out to be no good.

I think its the 10th digit of the vin. K is 89 and L is 90. If its a K or L and has a clutch, its a 250S.

The white one is a 250 and the blue one is a 230

R u lookn at a lt 230s or a lt 230E? A 230 E has electric start the 230S doesn't unless someone installed a Goki electric start on the lt 230s.Can the guy send you pics? An yes the seal on the shifter can go bad.
