85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
Wow, did you know the 85 and 86 models were 30 lbs lighter than the 87 and 88 models? And all the ones made before august 85 took only 1400ml of oil... all the others take 2000ml. I guess if you have one that says 1400 on the right side of the engine, you have a rare one.

Knievel -- who retired in 1981 after breaking more than 40 bones in his body, including his back seven times (Hmmm... Kinda reminds me of someone around here,,,, poolgod.) -- had been ill for some time, suffering from a lung disease.
"Anybody can jump a motorcycle," he once told Esquire magazine. "The trouble begins when you try to land it."</end quote></div>
Been looking at my x-rays since I heard he died........Got him by 8 bones, unless you are talking about repeat breaks, then I have 14-16 on him~!! Funny though I think back as a kid thinking how amazing his stunts were, and if you look at the "technology" he was riding then, and look at the stuff the kids do today on today's technology,(mainly suspension) he was just jumpin curbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BigMc said it before, I learned it later, and if you think about it, Knievel, would probably say the same, SUSPENSION SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST UPGRADE!! It keeps the power on the ground, and when you leave the ground, it makes the gravity gods less painfull!!!!!!!

The service manual says every time you change your oil you should retorque the head bolts, exhaust bolts, cylinder nuts, and check valve clearance. I was wondering if I should retorque my head bolts. Nobody ever said anything and I never read that I should, so I haven't so far. But I know on cars you are supposed to (unless the bolts are torque-to-yield bolts).</end quote></div>
I don't think you'd have to do it everytime if you hada lil loktite on the bolts.........
The ATC 250r and every 2 stroke I have ever had....... after EVERY ride, period! No exceptions...
On the 230, either I changed my oil to much (every 10-12 hours of ride time, so A LOT) or I was lucky... Checked the bolts maybe every 8th ride...

I remember that "technology".... 2 springs, one on each side of the seat and probably 2 inches of travel at best and 300-400lbs of weight.... I'm surprised he made it as long as he did. Now days we have it easy with a foot of travel and half the weight.
I wonder where BigMc went... He hasn't chimed in on anything since the webcam debate about 100 posts ago. I guess it got old after a couple yrs of posting....

I dont think locktite on the bolts will do anything. I dont think they are talking about the bolts coming loose so much as the gasket getting more squished. Locktite will just make retorquing that much harder because you will have to break the glue. They say to retorque every 600 miles or 6 months. The first time after only 100 miles. I dont know, thats just what it says.

Yours is not a quadsport though.
I only have the lt230s and lt250s factory service manuals. Every other quad all I have is the clymer and it doesn't tell how much oil.
